Emma Ashby: Flores Aquae
Emma Ashby's Flores Aquae will be exhibited from March 26 through April 18, 2014. Ms. Ashby works in the medium of encaustics (wax), which will be a first in the history of our Outstanding Artist Series! This series features the works of local, regional, and national artists in the Peter Remis Lobby Gallery of The Wilkie Center for the Performing Arts.
Friday, March 28, 2014 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Emma Ashby is based in Portsmouth NH where she has a studio and works as an artist and encaustic instructor. She has a Masters degree from the Royal College of Art and worked for several years as textile designer in the London Fashion Industry. Emma is a member of the New Hampshire Art Association and the International Encaustic Artists (IEA).
I am continually inspired by the beauty and complexity of the natural world. The endless
discovery of colors, textures and patterns; the cycle of growth and decay; the fragility of
life, appealing to be remembered.
It explains my passion for the encaustic medium – the intensity of the pigments, the
movement of the wax, the ability to create different textures and sculptural forms to try and
encapsulate the essence of nature.
